2006_09_WorldVegeDay.gifToday is the first day of October and that means it is the start of World Vegetarian Day. According to Wikipedia, the day was established in 1977 by the North American Vegetarian Society. We plan on taking the opportunity to try out one of the many vegetarian friendly restaurants we haven't been to today, and you should to.

Today is the final day of The 36th Annual Pilsen East Artists' Open House . The open house is from 12 - 7 p.m. and is located in the galleries and studios near 18th street on S. Halsted. The art will be featured in forty different locations, all within walking distance.

The Suicide Girls Burlesque Show is coming to the Double Door tonight at 9 p.m. They bill it as "The Most Dangerous Burlesque Show in the World". Tsu Shi Ma MI Rae will be the opening band.

If you aren't up for the burlesque show, you could head over to the Uptown Poetry Slam at The Green Mill, 4802 N Broadway. The open mic is at 7 p.m. and the featured performers go on 8 p.m.

Feel free to add more events in the comments section.
