William Patrick Corgan Lets Out His Inner Miley With Cover Of 'Wrecking Ball'

By Tankboy in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 25, 2017 8:27PM

William Patrick Corgan (are we even still allowed to call him Billy?) is on the promo train, pushing his solo album Ogilala. Earlier this week, some fan shot video ran around the internet of Corgan covering Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" at one of his concerts, and while the gentleman filming the performance seemed to think it was pretty funny, Corgan's delivery was no joke.

Cyrus' song of heartbreak is right in Corgan's wheelhouse, and it is sonically a perfect fit with his latest material, all mournful introspection and delicate arrangements. The fan video was of dubious sound quality, but luckily for everyone, Corgan took time to record a version while visiting The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, this week, and the program just released the video. Get ready to get all weepy, and feel free to fire up those lighters and sing along with the chorus.

Hey, we made it through a whole Billy post without any Smashing Pumpkins puns! Go us!

Corgan is currently on tour and finishes up a two-night run at the Athenaeum Theatre tonight.
