A 64-year-old woman was fatally shot in the head near a Rogers Park CTA station Friday evening.

The woman was shot in the 6900 block of North Glenwood Avenue, near the Morse Red Line Station, around 6:30 p.m. Police say she was likely an "unintended target" of a drive-by shooting. The woman was taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where she later died, according to the Tribune. The Tribune also reports that the Chicago Police Chief of Patrol Ed Waller, called the shooting "tragic" in a Friday night press conference.

The shooting took place just half an hour after another evening shooting in Rogers Park, in which a 13-year-old boy was shot about a mile away, in the 2100 block of West Touhy Avenue. He was shot in the lower back and taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in critical condition.

The shootings are among at least seven so far Friday evening, including one other fatality. In that incident, a 26-year-old man was shot with a companion while sitting in a car, after a gunman approached them and opened fire in the 8000 block of South California Avenue, around 4 p.m.
