We've extolled the virtues of Korean-barbecue standout San Soo Gab San, in Lincoln Square, many times over the years here at Chicagoist. (It landed a well-deserved place on our list of the 12 Best Korean Restaurants in Chicago.) So needless to say we were thrilled to learn that owners will soon be opening a new downtown location.

The full details are still under wraps, including the exact location. According to Eater Chicago, who first reported the expansion, the owners will announce the address in the near future, as the space they're moving into is set to close within the next month-and-a-half. We do know that it will be in the River West neighborhood.

Dubbed San Soo Korean BBQ, the new location will apparently also have some new twists, including Korean tacos and Korean cocktails, plus patio seating, according to Eater. But its the protein bombs of dishes like Wang Kai Bi (marinated beef short rib) and bulgogi (thin marinated beef slices) and overflowing constellations of sides that will have 'em—and us—piling in.

Check out Eater's scoop here, which includes an interesting chat with owner Christopher Kim. We'll let keep you posted as more information becomes available.
