Yikes, A Lot Of Chicago Restaurants Are Closing In 2017

By Anthony Todd in Food on Sep 6, 2017 4:03PM

Does it seem to anyone else like 2017 is a particularly bad year for restaurant closings? It's always easy to mistake something for a bubble when you're in the middle of it, and perhaps it's just the loss of some particular favorites that have created this impression, but it feels like this is a summer that we won't soon forget.

Here's just a short list of some of the more notable spots Chicago has lost in 2017 thus far. This is by no means a comprehensive collection; this is just off the top of my head, which makes it even more depressing. Many of these are not flash in the pan spots; the number of places on this list open for more than five years is a bit astonishing.
