Eight police officers were injured and 11 people (including six minors) have been charged after a brawl broke out in Little Village on Tuesday night. Video posted to social media of one of the skirmishes appears to show someone in a crowd hurl a bottle at the face of one cop. Officers then push through a barricade toward the crowd.

Police responded to a call of shots fired in the 2600 block of South Albany Avenue, shortly after 8:50 p.m. Officers then fired shots when a vehicle attempted to flee the scene "believing they would be pinned between vehicles," according to police. No one was shot.

The chase ended up near the Discount Mega Mall (3101 W. 26th St.). A large crowd had amassed there after a funeral for a gang member, according to the Tribune. Video from social media posted last night, which was tagged at the Mall, shows someone in the crowd hurl something at the face of a police officer. A lawyer for one of the people charged in the incident told DNAinfo that the bottle (a Hennessy bottle) was thrown by the girlfriend of the deceased from the funeral, who was emotional from the situation. A flood of police follow through toward the crowd after the throw.

Tensions had been high as rumors spread last night that one or more persons had been shot, the Tribune reports.
