Police are alerting residents after a 9-year-old girl was sexually abused in a Logan Square grocery store earlier this week.

A man came up to the girl on Monday at around 3:45 p.m. in a grocery store in the 3600 block of West Fullerton Avenue, according to police. (Tony's Finer Foods supermarket is on the same block.) The man squeezed the girl's buttocks then fled after he was confronted by a family member of the victim, police said.

Police said the alleged groper is a Hispanic man, between the ages of 30 and 40, with a heavy build, between 5'05" and 5'07", with black hair and brown eyes. He was seen wearing a light t-shirt with the phrase "A Better World" printed on it, dark pants and white shoes.

Police shared an image of the suspect taken from a surveillance camera. Anyone with information is asked to call authorities at (312) 492-3810.
