Police Warn Of Violent Robberies In Loop, One On Red Line Train

Police are warning residents and CTA travelers in the Loop after a group of men punched and robbed victims, on the sidewalk and once on a Red Line train, in March. According to police, a man traveling in a group of three or four asks a "distracting question" then throws several punches to the victim's face. Others in the group then dig through the victim's pockets for cell phones and wallets.

The attacks happened at the following locations and times, police said:
100 block of South State Street on March 15 at 11:20 p.m.
100 block of West Adams Street on March 17 at 1:25 a.m.
100 block of West Van Buren Street on March 17 at 1:49 a.m.

The incident on State St. happened on a Red Line train, according to the CTA.

Police described as the group as black men—ages18-26, 20-25 and 18-25—that wore a black hooded sweatshirts, a black jacked and a white bomber jacket, respectively.
