A Metra Union-Pacific North line train crashed into a car on the Far North Side of Chicago Thursday morning while on its way into Chicago, according to police.

The fatal crash occurred in the 7500 block of North Nagle Avenue in Jefferson Park, police say, when a car struck the train around 7:10 a.m. Less than four hours later, another UPN Metra train fatally struck someone Thursday morning, when the train hit a pedestrian in Crystal Lake near the Crystal Lake train station around 10:45 a.m. The train had already been running with a major delay because of the earlier accident, Metra told the Tribune.

Metra is investigating both crashes. Metra's Twitter accounts are posting updates on train departures, cancellations and delays due to the crashes.
