Seven people were taken to the hospital after a vehicle crashed into a CTA bus on the Southwest Side.

The bus was driving northbound on South Kedzie Avenue in Ashburn at around 9:45 a.m., when a 2005 Ford SUV drove through a red light at West 79th Street, according to fire and police officials. The bus then swerved and hit a second vehicle. The 19-year-old driver who blew the red light was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition, and his passenger, 18, was listed in stable condition, also at Christ Center.

The bus driver, 51, is in stable condition at Holy Cross, as of Monday morning; and the driver of the car that was swerved into, a 60-year-old man, is in stable condition at Little Company of Mary. Three other people were taken to area hospitals, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

The driver will be cited "for disregarding the red signal," according to police.
