The food world has been all a-flutter about Kitsune for months, both because the food looks beautiful and because there's a general perception that Chef Iliana Regan got screwed when her last restaurant venture, Bunny the Microbakery, opened in partnership with scandal-ridden food industry veteran Phil Tadros, closed after just four months in business. The wait is over.

Kitsune, located at 4229 N. Lincoln Ave., was often described in pre-opening press as a ramen joint, and while there is ramen on the menu, there's also a ton of other Japanese-inspired food. Think wagyu beef, cabbages with smoked fish bone and butter, okonomiyaki and more. The regular restaurant is open until 11 on the weekends, with a special "snack and ramen" session going till 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The opening day for Kitsune is Jan. 20, and reservations are now available. We paged through them, and they're already pretty full, but if you're willing to dine at 10 p.m., you might get lucky. Otherwise, bookmark the page and get ready to make reservations a month out. We have a feeling it'll be worth the wait.
