Video: Eddie Vedder & Bill Murray Sing 'The Weight' At Chicago House Party

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder and Bill Murray are of course both diehard Cubs fans (no matter what Billy Corgan implies). It’s hard to imagine the national TV broadcast without requisite shots of the famous fans’ anxiety and elation in the stands. But the amazing video below, which was posted to Facebook on Tuesday, has to be our favorite clip yet.

Apparently after Game Four, a deflating 7-2 home loss for Chicago, the pair was still never-say-die hopeful enough to hit up a Wrigelyville house party. Also in attendance was guitarist Derek Trucks, who led with Vedder a lovably loose sing-along of The Band’s classic “The Weight.” Murray, a well-documented house partier, was front and center to help the crowd belt it out. Not attending, to our knowledge: fellow (but much-less ballyhooed) "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" singer Vince Vaughn.

The high spirits were rewarded, of course. The Cubs have since rallied to force perhaps the most anticipated Game Seven in modern World Series history, squeezing by Cleveland 3-2 in Game Five and handling them 9-3 in last night's Game Six.

Vedder and Murray were also in attendance for Tuesday night's game in Cleveland. Murray reportedly gave his extra ticket to a random Cubs fan, who sat with him for the contest, because he's Bill Murray and of course he did.
