Popular Taverna 750 Is Leaving Lakeview At The End Of August

Taverna 750, the Lakeview shared plates spot that is known, at least to us, as the restaurant with the cutest waiters in Boystown, is leaving the neighborhood at the end of August.

A representative from the restaurant told us that because of an "unexpected and unfortunate turn of events," owner Paul Cannella is moving the entire restaurant to another location. Chicago Pride reported a really strange mess back in July, in which Cannella was faced with another restaurant opening in the space he was currently occupying. No word on whether that is the exact reason for the closure (though we wouldn't be surprised), but we know for sure that the last day of operation will be Aug. 29. Anyone who dines at the restaurant between now and Aug. 29 gets a free champagne toast.

The restaurant will then re-open in an as-yet-undisclosed location on Sept. 2, which is a pretty incredible turnaround. They wouldn't reveal where they are going, and no business license is yet available on the city website for another location of Taverna 750. We'll update when we learn more.
