A young child was found dead on Tuesday night in the basement of a vacant building in Englewood after firefighters arrived and put out a small fire, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

The child was believed to be between nine months and three years old, a Fire Department spokesman told Chicagoist.

Firefighters responded to a report of a small fire at roughly 9:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of West Marquette Road. Police officers then discovered the infant wrapped underneath cloth after fire crews extinguished the fire. Arson investigators believe an accelerant was used to ignite the fire.

Three people are being questioned, police said on Wednesday morning. The cause of death has not yet been determined, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Update, August 4:
Three people have been charged with concealment of a death and attempted arson in the case: Alyssa Garcia, 27, Christian Camarena, 19, and Isaac Camarena, 17. The child has been identified as 4-year-old Manuel Aguilar.
