The Neo-Futurists Want You To Party With Them For 24 Hours Straight

By Gwendolyn Purdom in Arts & Entertainment on Jul 29, 2016 6:00PM

In their signature show, Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind, the North Side's most prominent purveyors of absurdist performance art cram 30 plays into 60 minutes. So, imagine then, how much quirky, thoughtful art the Neo-Futurists can fit into a performance that will last a full day. Attendees will get a chance to find out in September when the Andersonville theater company hosts Can't Stop/Won't Stop, a 24-hour fundraiser to support its 2016-2017 season.

Spectators (who will likely also become participants, because that's the kind of thing the Neo-Futurists do) have to raise at least $150 to get access to the full 24-hour event, which will include a performance of Too Much Light created within those 24 hours, according to a post on the Neo-Futurists' Facebook page. Those who'd rather just swing by for a few hours can buy 4-hour drop in tickets for $25.

What else can patrons expect at the event? Pop-up performances, for one, plus live music and DJ sets, lots of dancing, and the Neos' brand of off-kilter comedy and honesty.

"Can't Stop/Won't Stop" will run from Sept. 17 through Sept. 18. Get tickets here.
