Today in news that we promise is not mistakenly sourced from the Florida Man Twitter account: A naked man stole a landscaping truck, crashed it on Lake Shore Drive and then jumped into Lake Michigan on Monday morning, police said.

Officers responded to a call to check the well being of an individual at 7:06 am in the 100 block of East Delaware Place, according to police.

From there, the suspect stole the truck, fled to Lake Shore Drive and caused an automobile accident near LSD and Randolph Street. He got out of the truck and ran across the northbound lanes of Lake Shore and jumped into Lake Michigan, police said.

The man was recovered at Monroe St and Lake Shore Drive, then taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for evaluation. Police said it may have been a "mental health situation."

Police on Monday afternoon said they were unclear if any injuries occurred or if the suspect is in custody with charges pending.

In all seriousness though, this is the kind of thing that happens when Illinois barely has a state budget and mental-health service funding is hard to come by.

Update 3:50 p.m.: No charges will be filed against the individual, police said. He will be evaluated and released.
