Video: Chance The Rapper Debuts Gospel-Influenced 'Blessings' On Fallon

Chance the Rapper's long-awaited mixtape, Chance 3, finally has a release date—May 13!—and last night, Chance went on The Tonight Show to debut a new track from it: the gospel-influenced "Blessings." Chance performed it with Chicago soul singer Jamila Woods and gospel singer Byron Cage, plus a white-robed choir of backup singer. He even wore a "3" cap for the occasion, a departure from his signature Sox cap (so signature that the White Sox had him design three new hats for them).

The song is more spiritual than even Chance's last single, "Angels". "When the praises go up/The blessings come down" is a constant refrain, though Chance also keeps the song grounded in real life with mentions of his daughter and, you know, Twitter ("ain't no Twitter in heaven").

This track, combined with Chance's major contribution to "Ultralight Beam" on Kanye West's The Life of Pablo, gives us a feeling Chance 3 will be much more soulful than, say, his guest verse on Justin Bieber's "Confident."

For now, while we all await Chance 3, here's the beautiful, Mars-like cover art to tide you over. Six more days!
