Photos: Brookfield Zoo Giraffes Venture Outdoors For The First Time This Year

Today’s high was a whopping 70 degrees, making it a great day to be a human being and an even better day to be a giraffe at the Brookfield Zoo.

The zoo’s four reticulated giraffes, native to Kenya, are kept indoors during the winter—but today, for the first time in 2016, they were released into their outdoor habitat.

Potoka, a 2-year-old male, took a celebratory run, which you can watch here:

The other members of the herd—Arnieta, 10, Jasiri, 11, and Mithra, 26—took a more laid back approach to the sunshine, but clearly enjoyed it too.

It undoubtedly helped them enjoy the warmth that giraffes do not understand what global warming is! (To our knowledge.)
