Scores of protesters are marching up the Magnificent Mile on Christmas Eve day to raise awareness about the problems of police brutality, in an action they dubbed #BlackChristmas.
The demonstrators said they wanted to mimic their Black Friday protest, in which they blocked stores and hurt merchants' bottom line on one of the biggest shopping days of the year for Chicago. The protestors have been calling for Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez, and other officials to resign in the wake of the tragic shooting of Laquan McDonald.
