If you're planning on riding northbound Red or Brown line trains this weekend, be prepared for trains to bypass some stations due to track maintenance work.

Starting at 10 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. on Saturday, Howard-bound Red Line trains will skip the Wilson, Lawrence, Argyle, Berwyn, Bryn Mawr, Thorndale, Granville, Loyola, Morse and Jarvis stations and run express from Sheridan to Howard, the CTA announced in a statement.

Southbound Red Line trains will not be affected at all.

Passengers who want to get to Howard from the Wilson, Lawrence, Argyle, Berwyn, Bryn Mawr, Thorndale, Granville, Loyola, Morse or Jarvis stations will need to take a southbound train to Sheridan and then transfer to a Howard-bound train, according to the CTA.

Customers who want to exit at a bypassed station will need to travel to Howard and transfer to a 95th-bound train to get there.

Fortunately, the big detour will only last eight hours and regular service will resume at 6 a.m. on Saturday.

Northbound trains to Kimball on the Brown Line will skip the Diversey station on Sunday beginning around 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. No southbound Brown Line trains to the Loop will be affected.

Northbound passengers who want to exit at Diversey should travel to Wellington and then transfer to a southbound train. Customers wanting to travel north from the Diversey station can board a Loop-bound train to Fullerton and then transfer to a Kimball-bound train, according to the CTA.
