This Topless Peep Show In River North Isn't What You Think

River North seems like an unlikely place for a neon sign advertising a topless peep show. But that's just what you'll see if you walk by the intersection of Wabash and Grand, right within sight of Nordstrom and Eataly.

But peer inside and * spoiler alert * you'll find it's all just a ruse to offer up some facts during Breast Cancer Awareness month on some black mannequins with pink wigs:

  • 8 out of 9 women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history

  • Every two minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer

  • 70 percent of breast cancers are found through self-exams

The window was set-up by Havas Worldwide Chicago, an agency known for conducting interviews on the Navy Pier Ferris Wheel. They're asking passers-by to take a photo and post it on social media with the hashtag #HavasPeepShow to raise money for breast cancer research.

They're walking a fine line here: Breast cancer awareness campaigns like "Save the Tatas" and "Feel Your Boobies" have been criticized by some survivors as sexualizing cancer. But so far, the initial reception to the display has been positive. Ad Week wrote, "Campaigns that sexualize breast cancer are generally frowned upon, but this effort neutralizes its sexual message to send a nonsexual one instead."

It's hard not to rubberneck when passing by:
