Get ready, pizza enthusiasts: A nearly 70-year-old South Side icon is making its way up to the North Side. Home Run Inn is bringing its famous thin crust pizza to its new Lakeview restaurant on Oct. 15.

The chain, which runs several locations on the South Side and in the southern suburbs, is readying its new restaurant at 3215 N. Sheffield Ave. Home Run Inn pizzas are distributed all over the country through its massive frozen pizza business, so it's not exactly a stranger to North Side customers.

In addition to a wide array of pizzas, the Lakeview location will also have appetizers, salads, burgers, beer, wine, cocktails and a macaroni and cheese skillet on the menu, according to the Tribune. A kid's menu, carry-out, delivery and gluten-free pizza will also be available.

Get there early because the first 100 customers in line when it opens at 3 p.m. on Oct. 15 will get a coupon for a free large two-topping pizza, valid Oct. 16 to Nov. 30. A percentage of sales from the opening weekend will be donated to the Lakeview Pantry, a neighborhood nonprofit food pantry and social services organization.
