Exciting news for fans of Halal Guys' gyros and their famous white sauce: They've announced that the grand opening of their Gold Coast location will be this Saturday. This is the Halal Guys' first franchise outside New York, so we're expecting long lines for the restaurant with a cult following on Saturday morning.

Last night we were invited to a media preview of the new location on Division Street. Since food carts aren't legal in Chicago, the Halal Guys opted for a small brick-and-mortar location with just a few tables. Service was quick for the media preview, the hot sauce offered a slow burn and the "secret" white sauce was as delicious as expected.

Halal Guys are undergoing a major expansion, and they have 200 franchises in the works from coast to coast. If all goes as planned, we expect four more locations throughout Chicago (though those locations haven't been announced).

Halal Guys' grand opening will be Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at 49 W. Division St. in the Gold Coast. Its regular business hours will be Sun. through Thurs. 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Fri. to Sat. 11 a.m. to 4 a.m.
