Wildly Popular Pizzeria Coalfire Opens A 2nd Location Today

Anyone who has stood in line at Coalfire and then eaten their amazing pies has begged and pleaded for this day: They’re open for business at their second location. The new location is reported to have opened at 4:00, and it’s on Southport between Grace street and Waveland Avenue, right by the Music Box Theatre.
We’ve included Coalfire on our Best Pizzas In Chicago List in 2013 (and only dropped it in 2014 because it was an obvious repeat), but the biggest complaint has always been the wait. They’re strict with the rules (only seating whole parties, no reservations) but it’s always worth it when you finally get in.
Eater Chicago reports that there are some changes at this new location. They’ve got a full bar with a cocktail menu and an enhanced beer and wine selection. There’s an expanded menu with new pies (we’re most excited about a combination of rapini, nduja, shrimp and mozzarella, a worthy successor to the famous nduja pie at the original location) but don’t worry about big changes.
As co-owner Jimmy Madla told the Trib last fall, “What isn’t gonna change is the recipe for the pizza. We’ll have the same pizza over there, but we’ll have two coal-burning ovens instead of the one that’s at the current Coalfire.”
Coalfire Two is located at 3707 N. Southport Ave.
