Wicker Park Taco Bell Serving Booze Will Get A Bouncer

By Emma G. Gallegos in Food on Jul 29, 2015 5:00PM

A bouncer will greet you at the nation's first booze-serving Taco Bell in Wicker Park set to open in August.

That's one in a list of concessions the new franchise made to neighbors who at a meeting in June said they were worried about underage boozing or customers who might try to leave with open containers. The Taco Bell location at 1439 N. Milwaukee Ave. hasn't yet received a permit to sell wine, beer and liquor alongside its Doritos Locos but DNA Info reports that city Liquor Commissioner Greg Steadman plans to approve the permit any day now.

The agreement now is for a security guard to man the door 9 p.m. until midnight Thursday through Saturday. And last call will be at 10 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday, according to DNA Info. On the menu will be draft beer, wine by the glass and 16-ounce alcohol freezes with one shot of rum, vodka or tequila.

Food will be sold until midnight during the week and 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturday. Some of that food will include appetizers that you don't see at other locations.
