Texas Toasts More Chicago Eateries, This Time Gino's East

Texas just can’t get enough of Chicago's home cooking. There was an all-out stampede when the state's first-ever Al’s No. 1 Beef franchise opened near Dallas in February. That should come as good warning to the folks behind Gino's East who opened a location in San Antonio yesterday. It follows on the heels of two other Gino's East locations—brought to Texas by ATX Brands—that opened in the Houston area in early 2015.

Aside from the Chicago staples on the menu, the Gino’s East spots in Texas serve local traditions like the unfortunately named “BBQ Brisket Za” (“za” ughhhh) and Deep-Dish Nachos.

Texas is also reportedly getting more Potbelly locations soon. (Fun fact: Though Potbelly is currently found in several states, it is native to Chicago. The original location is on Lincoln Avenue near DePaul.)

Hey Texas, how about you send some Whataburger, Torchy’s Tacos and Texadelphia our way? We’ll trade you, all or nothing, for Giordano’s.
