Video: Shedd Penguins Build A Bird's Paradise During Nesting Season

By Lisa White in Arts & Entertainment on Mar 27, 2015 8:40PM

The sun is out, love is in bloom and at the Shedd Aquarium, the penguins are ready to woo. It's nesting season for these cute creatures, which means the male rockhopper and Magellanic penguins are getting busy so they can...get busy.

Part of an annual mating ritual, during this time the male penguins start gathering materials to build their nests, thanks to some help from the Shedd staff who bring in rocks and 'sticks' for them to peruse. This is serious work for the penguins, albeit cute too, so things can get a bit tense if a favorite rock is snatched up. But it looks like everyone is happy and hard at work in the video below, ready to impress their mate.
