Whether you observe Lent or not, Fat Tuesday is a great excuse to eat treats like pączki, king cake, or New Orleans style cocktails. Here are six of our favorite Fat Tuesday picks:

Pączki : The fried Polish pastry is arguably Chicago’s favorite Fat Tuesday treat. Thrillist and Time Out both have lists for getting your pączki on. Or check out our own list.

Sauced Market: Get all your Fat Tuesday food and drink essentials at one place as Sauced. This monthly night market happens to be on Fat Tuesday, bringing paczki from West Town Bakery, gumbo from The Garage and Hurricanes and more to Emporium Logan Square from 6 p.m. - 11 p.m.

Big Jones: Since Big Jones (5347 N. Clark St.) is devoted to all kinds of Southern food and drink traditions, of course they do an excellent take on New Orleans-style food with their Mardi Gras "pop up" running up to and including Fat Tuesday. The menu includes delectable king cake, which is a cinnamon cake topped with vanilla ice and green, yellow and purple sprinkles. Take a look at some of the selections on Morsel.

Analogue: Analogue, one of our favorite places to eat and drink, is celebrating the holiday with traditional New Orleans Mardi Gras food and cocktails like drive-thru style daiquiris and King Cake. (2523 N. Milwaukee Ave.)

Fat Tuesday Feast at Dusek's/Punch House: Dusek’s (1227 W. 18th St.) will also have a Fat Tuesday Feast with andouille sausage, jambalaya, crab beignet, etouffee and crawfish. They’ll also be sazeracs to drink. Downstairs in Punch House hurricanes and New Orleans inspired punch.

Swedish Fat Tuesday: The Swedish American Museum (5211 N. Clark St.) is celebrating Fettisdagen with semla, marzipan-filled buns topped with whipped cream from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
