Construction of the Chicago Riverwalk is progressing at a nice pace. The State Street Bridge will close beginning Wednesday, Aug. 13, so crews can continue work on the waterfront walkway.

The 65-year-old structure will be closed through Aug. 23 and construction will require lifting and closing of the bridge for the duration of the work. Northbound vehicles traffic will be detoured west to LaSalle Street via Wacker Drive, and back east to State via Illinois Street. Southbound car traffic will detour west to Clark Street via Grand Avenue and back to State via Wacker.

If you’re biking it’s best to use the Dearborn Street protected bike lane.
