Travis Wood pitched in on the mound and at the plate, slugging a two-run homer and driving in three runs while allowing the Mets just two runs over five innings. While the Cubs blew the lead Wood provided, Anthony Rizzo put the Cubs ahead for good with home run in the seventh inning. Junior Lake's eighth inning triple drove in two insurance runs. With their win, the Cubs earned their first three-game sweep of 2014 and their first at home in almost two years. The victory also evens the Cubs' home record at 13-13.

White Sox Draft Carlos Rodon at No. 3
With the third overall pick in the Major League Baseball draft, the White Sox drafted lefty pitcher Carlos Rodon from NC State. Considered to be the closest to Major League ready of the draft's top prospects, it's possible Rodon could be fast tracked to "the show" similar to Chris Sale in 2010. Armed with a dominant slider and very good fastball and changeup, the 6-foot-3, 235-pound junior went 25-10 with a 2.24 ERA and 436 strikeouts in his three-year career at NC State.

Cubs Draft Kyle Schwarber at No. 4
Drafting one spot behind their cross-town rivals, the Cubs addressed their need for catching and left-handed hitting by selecting Kyle Schwarber from University of Indiana. The 6-foot, 240-pound backstop batted .341 with 40 home runs and 149 RBIs during three seasons with the Hoosiers. Said Jason McLeod, the Cubs' vice president of scouting and player development, "We felt Kyle was the best hitter, hands down, in this year's draft."
