Festival season is so close you can nearly reach out and grab it, and of course organizers are taunting us with initial lineups and other special treats. The same goes for Milwaukee Avenue Arts Fest, which has just announced its full music lineup and roster of visual artists.

The fest takes over Logan Square June 27-29, running along Milwaukee Avenue between Diversey/Kimball and Kedzie. The area is transformed into a huge arts district, with pop-up galleries, open studios, an arts market, auctions—you name it. Some of the food vendors will even incorporate art into their displays. Neighborhood shop Heavenly Gelato, for instance, will host an exhibition by the National Veterans Art Museum: "Envelopes” showcases illustrated envelopes from letters sent home by soldiers fighting in the Vietnam War. Among the other dozens of visual artists this year are:

  • Autotelic
  • F' Art Collective (Flue Art Collective)
  • Intuit
  • Jesus Mejia + Ruth
  • Puerto Rica Arts Alliance
  • South Logan Arts Coalition
  • Society of Smallness
  • Woman Made Gallery

The festival is organized by I Am Logan Square, so it’s no surprise that many of the food and drink offerings come from within the neighborhood, such as Lula Cafe and Reno. As is customary at MAAF, there’s will also be a family area with face painting, sand pits, a petting zoo and other activities for those bringing the kiddos along.

There’s a little something for everyone, but music lineup is the real show stealer here—this year’s might even better than that of Wicker Park Fest.

The two stages are programmed by Criterion Productions, and the eclectic selection includes national acts as well as a whole slew from right here in Chicago. Notable acts include Tyvek, Hologram Kizzie (aka Psalm One), Secret Colours, Archie Powell and the Exports, Rabble Rabble, Vamos, the list goes on. Check out the full lineup below.
