By Chuck Sudo in Food on May 7, 2014 5:45PM

2014_5_7_PTI.jpg Farmers and gardeners across the area are beginning to plant seeds for harvesting later and Growing Power Chicago is celebrating with an event 5:30 p.m. May 8 at their Bridgeport farm.

Presented by Growing Power Chicago's Advisory Board, the event will feature barbeque and veggies from the farm, local beer, "beets" from Duane Powell of Maximum Audio Visual and tours of the farm at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Come see what's growing, taste honey from Growing Power's bee hives, pet their goats, and see the newest commercial compost facility in Chicago. Your ticket and donation help fund Growing Power's work in Chicago. Tickets are available online. (3333 S. Iron St.)
