Thanks to a combination of rising housing prices in adjacent neighborhoods, new bars and restaurants opening and proximity to green spaces and infrastructure improvements, the online real estate aggregator Redfin listed Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood as one of the ten hottest in America for 2014. Redfin developed its list—which sites Humboldt Park at number ten nationally—after reviewing hundreds of millions of pageviews, examining which areas homes were added as "favorites" or saved to watch for price changes, new listings or sales by users. Redfin also consulted with hundreds of it's real estate agents around the nation.

According to Redfin's 2014 report, "Humboldt Park has a wide variety of historic homes as well as new construction homes with green features, all creating an eclectic mix of housing options for those looking to buy." The available inventory, coupled with a willingness of buyers to look at houses that might need some work make the neighborhood attractive to Chicago families looking to settle down. The listing of Humboldt park on this year's list comes after Logan Square made number eight on last year's list. One thing that seems to make Chicago neighborhoods unique on these lists is that inventories don't have the same drop off in quantities and spike in prices that other markets see.
