- Brendan Sodikoff must a) not sleep b) have a supporting cast of thousands and c) have a personal mint crafting gold bricks in the basement of Gilt Bar. The man just won't stop! In addition to the multi-million dollar renovation of Maxim's, the new-ish Dillman's and his many other rumored restaurants, we just found out that he'll be opening a pizza by the slice shop in Wicker Park, because why not? DNAinfo Chicago reports that sometime next year the restaurant will be coming to the 1700 block of Milwaukee Avenue. No details about the menu yet.

- Nico is opening soon! The long-awaited Paul Kahan Italian spot is taking reservations on OpenTable for early December. We don't have official word on an opening date (there will probably be a soft opening in late November) but we walked past the spot a few days ago and it looked like it was coming together.

- That didn't take long. Eater Chicago reports that Chef Rene De Leon is out at The Dawson after less than a month in operation. The new (giant) West Town bar and restaurant had gotten rave reviews for its design but slightly less rave reviews for the food, though there was nothing so bad that we expected Chef Leon to get bounced. As is typical, The Dawson said that Leon has "chosen to pursue other opportunities."
