Music Video Of The Day: Valerie June 'You Can't Be Told'

By Chuck Sudo in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 21, 2013 10:30PM

If Valerie June's album Pushin' Against a Stone reminds some listeners of The Black Keys in spots that's partly by design—the Keys' Dan Auerbach produced the record and his fingerprints are felt throughout. But June's self-described "organic moonshine roots music" is otherwise unclassifiable, drawing elements of Appalachia, folk, country, blues, rock and torch singing into one unique singing style.

June plays two shows Oct. 22 at Schubas. The later show has long been sold out but tickets are still available for the 6:30 p.m. solo show. Buy them here.

Since you apparently can't watch music videos on television anymore, we'll showcase one here daily. There's no rhyme or reason, time or season, to which video we'll choose. Have a suggestion? Contact us at tips@chicagoist.com.
