We hope you always tip your tipple toppers when you’re out and about in our fair city, but in case you found that such customs weren’t enough to express your gratitude to those who run your rum, pour your porters and uncork your Chardonnay, grab a bar napkin and write this down.

In a season already brimming with holidays, there’s one more to remember. Dec. 8 is National Bartender Appreciation Day. Sailor Jerry Rum has launched a campaign to find America’s most appreciated bartenders. The top two will win a pop-up concert in their bar.

Between the baseball, the hockey (Go Hawks!) and the weather, we know you have reasons to drink and there are plenty of places you can quaff cocktails. Give a little bit back and nominate someone you think is worthy before October 28 Judges want to know the who, where and why, but also want details on what makes your favorite bartender a cut above the rest. Tell good tales, folks.

Thirty outstanding nominees will be chosen, and in November another vote will be cast for the best of the best and the rest will walk the plank.

We've covered hotel bars, spilled some not-so-secret “secrets” and generally been all about the bar scene here at Chicagoist, so we think this time it’s your turn to give the tips and steer Jerry’s sail to a bar near you.
