Renegade Craft Fair Is Back, Better Than Ever

By Julia Weeman in Arts & Entertainment on Sep 7, 2013 4:30PM

The Renegade Craft Fair returns with a curated selection of over 300 indie crafters.

In addition to an incredible selection of goods, there will be a pop-up vintage market by The Vintage Bazaar, workshops by Lillstreet Art Center, Chicago School of Shoemaking, and RX Made. Reckless Records and CHIRP Radio will bring the jams and Magnolia Photobooth Co. will host a free photobooth.

The selection of food and beverages is also excellently curated and features some of our favorites. There will be savory food by MANA Food Bar, Antique Taco, Dia De Los Tamales and Chicago’s Doghouse; sweet treats by Puffs of Doom, Black Dog Gelato and Glazed & Infused; coffee by Intelligentsia and Gaslight Coffee;and drinks by Seasons Sodas, Oliver Winery and Goose Island.

This curated indie-craft marketplace is unique in that each individual event is juried, which results in a wide variety of media and styles from both experienced and emerging makers. Expect to find apparel, jewelry, housewares, furniture, lighting, bath and body products, art, and papergoods.

This year, there are lots of reasons to stick around and hang for awhile. RX Made and Gaslight Coffee are joining forces to create an interactive coffee lounge and Matthew Hoffman is doing an installation based on his You Are Beautiful project, which can be enjoyed from the fair's seating area. There will also be a Google Local lounge where you can share your thoughts on local places.

The 11th annual Renegade Craft Fair is today and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Division Street between Damen and Paulina in Wicker Park. Attendance is free and though many vendors accept credit cards, some are cash only so it's a good idea to bring cash. There will also be an ATM truck on site.
