In the Heights is playing at the Paramount Theatre in Aurora.

Variety is the theme in Chicago theater this week with shows about a famed culinary icon, some fast-talking Latinos and a dark rom-com.

Other People’s Money

Playwright Jerry Sterner’s dark comedy embodies the greed and cynicism at the core of American business. And it’s also something of a rom com. Yep, we’re in. The show runs Sunday, Sept. 8 through Saturday, Oct. 19.

To Master the Art

Timeline Theatre Company is bringing back the biographical drama of famed culinary star Julia Child and her husband, Paul. Here’s hoping the audience gets a little taste test. The show runs Tuesday, Sept. 10 through Sunday, Oct. 20.

In the Heights

The Aurora-based Paramount Theatre — known mostly for suburbs-friendly classic musicals — is taking an exciting leap with this beloved rap musical about a tight-knit community of Latinos in the Manhattan neighborhood of Washington Heights. The show runs Wednesday, Sept. 11 through Sunday, Oct. 6.
