The next time you feel like you're being overcharged for a car rental, just steal it. That's what Chicago Lawn resident Steve Scott did recently.

It's a great plan actually, until you get pulled over by the po-po for not wearing your seat belt.

According to The Man, Scott allegedly rented the Chevy Malibu in July at a rate of $239 a week. He gave the car rental company $800, and believed he had been overcharged, said Assistant State's Attorney Lorraine Scaduto during a bond meeting on Wednesday.

Yeahhh...okay. You read that correctly: A Chevy Malibu.

Scott was pulled over by the police on Tuesday on the 7100 block South Indiana Avenue. He allegedly told the police that "Linn the budget manager" told Scott the car would be reported stolen if it wasn't returned macht schnell. After speaking with "Linn," Scott called repo man "Andre" to make arrangements to have the 'bu picked up.

Scott is currently being held on $50,000 bond, and has been charged with driving without a seat belt, not having a driver's license and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

No word on whether or not he's not being cited for stealing a cheesy auto.
