Want Your Picture Taken With Mr. Kool-Aid?

2013_8_8_KoolAid.jpg Have you always wanted to meet the advertising icon who breaks through walls without sloshing his deep red life juice? Now's your chance to meet the Kool Aid Man and win some neat-o prizes.

Normally, we wouldn't be promoting this particular icon, primarily because he is designed to convince kids to drink fake sugary red junk. On the other hand, those Kool Aid commercials have been a staple of television since there was television. Apparently, trippy drink commercials date all the way back to the 50s, as you can see in the video below.

Next Thursday, Aug. 15, The Kool-Aid Man will be making appearances all over Chicago. At each location, he'll be available for photos and will also be giving away some "random acts of fun." For instance, at the Shedd he'll give away free tickets. You can also win free boat rides, carousel rides and beach blankets. No word on whether the red stuff itself will be available, but we'd suspect there may be some of that too. If not, you can always try to convince the man to tip over. Oh Yeah.

Here's the schedule.

9 a.m.-10 a.m.: Shedd Aquarium
11 a.m.-12 p.m.: Lincoln Park Zoo
2 p.m.-3 p.m.: North Avenue Beach
4 p.m.-5 p.m.: Wendella Boat Cruise
7 p.m.-8 p.m.: Movies in the Park at McGuane Park
