Last year's "Sousapalooza" at Daley Plaza.
Keep your eyes peeled Friday because Make Music Chicago is taking over with free performances all over the city, including a few at Daley Plaza that the public can join in. This is the third annual Make Music celebration for Chicago, modeled after the French musical holiday, Fête de la Musique. The celebration has become something of an international phenomenon, taking place in 500 cities across the world, all on June 21.

There’s a wide range of styles to be seen in widely ranging locations from your nearest sidewalk in the Loop, to classical music at Millennium Park, jazz at the French Market, rock bands at the John Hancock Garden Plaza and Humboldt Park Boathouse, SuZOOki for the kids at Lincoln Park Zoo Farm, live house DJs all day on the Midway Plaisance, and more. And we mean a ton more. There are literally more than 25 sites hosting performances and events throughout the day. Head over to Make Music Chicago’s site to see them all, and then head to the Grand Finale and Street Party at St. James Cathedral beginning at 5pm where they will also have the food trucks DuckNroll, Flirty Cupcakes and 5411 Empanadas.
