Last Minute Plans: Terriers Unleash Their Debut LP At Schubas

On their debut album Unrequited Admiration Society, Terriers prove that — much like the breed of dog they've chosen to name their band after — pop music has no specific size, shape, color or sound. On second thought, that simile might not hold up well when it comes to sound but we promise that UAS is anything but yappy. In fact it's quite the opposite. Vocalists Danny Cohen and Nora Leahy's rotation on the mics and the overall poppiness of the album makes for a smooth, soothing listen.
While we're hoping for a little more focus on LP number two, Terriers prove on this album that they're able to balance slow rolling acoustic indie jams ("I Don't Care If The Sun Is Shining") with perky faux doo wop ("Fall In Love"), with out of left field funk ("You Belong To Me") with country twang ("Like I Always Do") in the course of just eight tracks. Phew!
We liked Terriers first single "New York" so much we decided to feature it as our "Music Video of the Day" last month and today we're bringing you another new track from this young Chicago act. Listen to "Sad Situation" below.
Get to Schubas tonight for Unrequited Admiration Society's release show. Terriers will be performing alongside fellow midwesterners The Oarsmen. It's an 18+ show and starts at 8 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door for $8.
