Summer is coming, and, with it, the release of Bronzeville rapper NoNameGypsy's debut mixtape, Telefone. Before that happens, though, Gypsy will release a new video next Friday for her track "Paradise," featuring Queen SheCago. Gypsy told us about the concept for the video.

"The concept for the 'Paradise' video is a child-themed birthday party celebrated by people in their twenties," Gypsy wrote to Chicagoist in an email. "Basically, we were paying homage to your childhood, and what it means and feels like to be young again."

To that end, Gypsy had Greater Grand Crossing-based Brown Sugar Bakery bake her a cake with her rap name written on it. Gypsy describes the "Paradise" as a "narrative told through and around performance shots."

Gypsy also writes that her next few releases will comprise a "trailer" of sorts for Telefone. When asked to elaborate, Gypsy wrote the following: "The next couple of releases will highlight different elements of the project. I wouldn't describe the videos as having an arc, but [they all have] a central theme that runs through them."

Check out a download of "Paradise" before the video is released.
