Discussion
Kara Newman, spirits editor at Wine Enthusiast, leads a discussion on "The Secret Financial Life of Food" 6:30 p.m. tonight at Kendall College. Hosted by the Greater Midwest Foodways Alliance, the lecture will look at how fluctuations in the commodities markets influence what we pay for food and how we eat. You may want to prepare for this by watching Trading Places. (900 N. North Branch St., $3, free for Kendall College students and faculty with ID. RSVP by emailing here or calling (847) 432-8255 or, then leave your name, telephone number and how many people in your party.)
Fundraisers
The support by America's running community in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings continues to grow. Fleet Feet Sports locations in Old Town and Lincoln Square are hosting runs at 6:30 p.m. this evening. Runners for Boston is an informal run between 3-6 miles in length, with all proceeds from t-shirt sales benefiting The One Fund.
