RISE To The Occasion

2013_4_19_RISE.jpg This weekend, The Numbered Days present an art showcase and party that nearly flew under our radar. RISE gathers some of the city’s top emerging artists—from painting, to theater, to dance, music, even film—all in one place for an evening of art and entertainment (and of course libations, provided by Tito’s Vodka and Revolution Brewing).

Fresh off SXSW, indie dance band Gemini Club headlines the event with electronic duo Team Bayside High on their heels providing tunes to keep the dance floor moving. Orchestral indie-rockers Paper Thick Walls and DJs Clash Gordon and Kyle Garner round out the musical line up, while one of our favorite contemporary dance crews, Chicago Dance Crash and dancer/choreographer Jessie Young Blood will be on hand to show off their moves. Smile, a documentary about violence in Chicago, kicks off the event at 8pm, and theater group Collaboraction, coming off their recent project "Crime Scene," will also perform.

RISE begins at 8 p.m., Saturday April 20 at Lacuna Loft Space in Pilsen (2150 S. Canalport). Tickets are $30 and include hosted bar. Proceeds benefit Young Chicago Authors. Attendees will also receive information for a free ride from Uber.
