Pizza Pizza

We stopped by Pizzeria da Nella Cucina Napoletana over the weekend for what turned out to be an epic meal. Of course, we had one of Nella Grassano's signature margherita pizzas, which was even better than the ones that made our top bites of 2012. The reason, according to Grassano's husband Franco, was adding a layer of insulation to the Vesuvian stone and volcanic ash wood-fired oven that was missing when the restaurant opened. "The oven holds its heat much better now," Franco Grassano said. Discover for yourself tonight and every Monday, where Pizzeria Da Nella's margherita pizzas are $7, dine in only. (1443 W. Fullerton Ave.)

Beer

Jerry's Wicker Park has lined up an amazing list of barrel aged beers for its "Oak and Iron II: A Bounty of Barrel Aged Beer" 8:30 p.m. Feb. 21. Among the contenders for the attention of beer lovers are Allagash Bourbon Black, Bell's Barrel-Aged Batch 9000, Founders Backwoods Bastard, Goose Island Baudoinia, Ommegang Biere D’Hougoumont and Vander Mill Sweet 73. DJ Grimsbørg spins an array of fantasy-inspired prog, dungeon synth, and assorted metal and costumes are encouraged. (Only the truly brave should try to pull off the Manowar loincloth look.) (1938 W. Division Street)
