Ian’s Party Returns Refreshed, Kicks Off Tonight

Let’s clear things up: Ian’s Party is not Ian’s birthday / graduation / Bar Mitvah party. As Gossip Wolf reveals, the 3-day punk rock festival, now in its sixth year, is named after the creators’ friend Ian, because the guy just happened to be around when they were naming the event and lost a game of rock, paper, scissors, forever becoming the namesake. Right time, right place.
This year’s installment is actually only the fest’s second year in Chicago—it called Elgin home for four years prior—and it’s lining up to be a doosie. The whole thing kicks off tonight and runs through Sunday, splitting about 40 performances between five shows at Township and Quenchers, including acts like The Arrivals, The Brokedowns, Dr. Manhattan, An Aesthetic Anaesthetic, Paper Mice, and Meat Wave. While tonight and tomorrow have overlapping shows at separate venues, the two Logan Square locales are less than a mile’s walk away for easy to-and-fro. This is particularly beneficial if you buy a weekend pass, which gets you entry into all five shows as well as a discount on an Ian's Party T-shirt and other surprises.
Ian’s Party runs Friday-Sunday, January 4-5 at Township and Quenchers in Logan Square, $30 for weekend passes, single tickets at the door are $12 per night at Township and $8 per night at Quenchers.
