Booze for a Cause
The Illinois Chapter of the United States Bartending Guild and the Party Rock Cocktail Crew are joining forces to throw a benefit cocktail party starting at 8 p.m. tonight at Salud Tequila Lounge (1471 N. Milwaukee Ave.). If you want to see how tight-knit Chicago's bartender community is, check out this event. Normally the Party Rock Cocktail crew has two guest bartenders for their events. This week they'll be changing bartenders every hour. They'll have have complimentary food, punch, shots, and beer with the suggested $20 donation, and 100 percent of all donations and tips will go to USBG's New York chapter.

Seating is still available for the Nov. 8 symposium, "Poverty, Power and the Public Airwaves" at Northwestern University School of Law's Thorne Auditorium. Democracy NOW!'s Amy Goodman will join Tavis Smiley and Cornel West as they offer post-election analysis and commentary on the first post-Citizens United presidential election, how SuperPAC funding affected the election, complicity of mainstream media outlets in election coverage and how the public can organize to ensure they have a responsible media.
