Participatory Budgeting

Ald. James Cappleman (46th) is one of four aldermen who have committed to the Participatory Budgeting Chicago initiative, which is aimed at giving Chicago residents a say into what infrastructure improvements and projects are needed in the wards where they live. Each ward receives nearly $1 million in discretionary funds for infrastructure projects and Cappleman is holding the second of five scheduled public meetings 7-9 p.m. Oct. 17 at Thorek Hospital (850 W. Irving Park Rd.). In a letter to his constituents last week Cappleman wrote the majority of these funds go to alley and street repaving, and extra street lighting. Noww's the time for 46th Ward residents to voice where some of that money is spent.
