Yes, this is the German parade that Ferris Bueller hijacked on his day off. Clearly it's changed locations since then. Beer, brats, leiderhosen... you know what to do. Just don't hijack a float.
German Day Festival is at Lincoln and Leland avenues. Opening ceremonies are at 6 p.m. Friday, the Von Steuben Day Parade is Saturday at 2 p.m. and German Day festivities continue Sunday at noon.
It's the tenth year for this crafty little street fair. Stock up on arts and crafts and vintage pieces and participate in interactive workshops while listening to DJs from Reckless Records, Dusty Groove and CHIRP Radio. Plus grab some Goose Island beer and eat treats from BigBite, Mamasita’s Tamales, Big Fork, Puffs of Doom, Black Dog Gelato.
